Important Shipping Update for Ireland and EU Customers

From 12 August 2026, DJC Boutique will no longer be able to ship orders to the Republic of Ireland or other EU countries.

We know this is disappointing news, especially for customers who have ordered from us before or had hoped to shop with us in future. This decision has not been made lightly. It has been made because of new EU packaging rules that place a much heavier administrative and financial burden on small businesses selling into EU countries.

DJC Boutique will continue to serve customers across Great Britain, including England, Scotland and Wales, as usual.

Some shipping changes affect where small shops can send parcels.

What is changing from 12 August 2026

From 12 August 2026, we will no longer accept or ship new orders to:

• The Republic of Ireland

• EU member countries outside Ireland

  
  

This means that customers with delivery addresses in those locations will no longer be able to complete orders for shipping from DJC Boutique after that date.

Orders within Great Britain will not be affected. If your delivery address is in England, Scotland or Wales, you can continue to shop with us in the same way you do now.

We understand that shipping updates can feel frustrating, especially when they relate to rules beyond a customer’s control. For that reason, we want to explain the change clearly and honestly, without hiding behind vague wording.

The short version is this: new EU packaging rules make it too costly for a small independent business like ours to keep shipping into Ireland and the EU.

Why we have had to make this decision

The change is linked to the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, often shortened to PPWR.

These rules are designed to manage packaging waste and improve responsibility around the materials used to send goods to customers. The aims behind packaging rules are easy to understand. Packaging creates waste, and governments want businesses to take responsibility for what they place on the market.

The difficulty for small businesses is the way these requirements can apply across different countries.

For a business that sells to customers in the EU, packaging compliance can mean registering in each EU country where products are sold. It can also mean paying annual fees and dealing with separate reporting duties, even when only a very small number of parcels are sent to that country.

For a large company, these costs and processes may be easier to absorb. For a small independent boutique, they are much harder to carry.

DJC Boutique does not ship high volumes into every EU country. In some places, the number of orders may be very small. But under these rules, even small volumes can still create registration, fee, and administration requirements.

That creates a situation where the cost of staying open for EU shipping is out of proportion to the number of parcels we send.

We have looked at the impact carefully. Sadly, the annual costs and admin involved are not sustainable for us.

Packaging rules can affect even small parcels sent by independent shops.

Existing Ireland and EU orders placed before the change

If you have already placed an order for delivery to Ireland or another EU country before 12 August 2026, we will contact you directly.

We will work with you to arrange one of the following:

• Delivery, where we are still able to complete it

• A refund, if delivery cannot be arranged

  
  

You do not need to contact us repeatedly or worry that your order has been forgotten. We will review affected orders and get in touch with each customer directly.

If your order is affected, please keep an eye on the contact details used when you placed the order. That may include your email inbox and any relevant order messages.

We want this process to be as fair and calm as possible. If we can complete your order, we will explain the next step. If we cannot, we will arrange a refund.

Customers in Great Britain can continue ordering as normal

DJC Boutique will continue shipping across Great Britain, including:

• England

• Scotland

There is no change to our service for these areas.

If your delivery address is in Great Britain, you can continue to place orders as usual. The change only affects delivery addresses in the Republic of Ireland and other EU countries.

We know some customers may have friends or family in Great Britain who can receive parcels on their behalf. If you choose to arrange delivery to a Great Britain address, that is your choice to manage. DJC Boutique can only be responsible for delivery to the address entered at checkout.

Please make sure the delivery address is correct before placing an order. This is especially important if you are sending a parcel as a gift or using an address that is not your own.

Great Britain deliveries will continue as usual after the update.

Why small businesses are affected differently

Rules around packaging can sound simple from the outside. In practice, they can be complex for small shops that send parcels across borders.

A parcel may look small. It may contain only one item. But the packaging can include several materials, such as:

• A cardboard box or mailer

• Tissue paper

• Stickers or paper labels

• Tape

• Protective filling

Under packaging responsibility rules, businesses may need to account for these materials in the countries where items are sold. That can involve registration, fees, reporting, and keeping records.

For a small boutique, the issue is not only the cost of the packaging itself. It is the cost of proving compliance across different places.

That means time, paperwork, and annual charges. When a business only sends a modest number of parcels into a specific country, those costs can exceed what the business earns from those orders.

We care about doing things properly. We do not want to ignore rules or create uncertainty for customers. If we cannot meet a requirement in a way that is responsible and sustainable, the right choice is to pause shipping to those areas.

This is a difficult decision, but it is the most honest one.

What this means if you are in Ireland or the EU

If you are based in the Republic of Ireland or another EU country, the main change is that DJC Boutique will no longer be able to ship directly to your address from 12 August 2026.

We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience this causes.

We know that many customers support small independent shops because they value something personal. Small businesses often offer carefully chosen products, friendly service, and a more thoughtful shopping experience. Losing access to that can feel unfair, especially when the change is caused by regulations rather than by customer demand.

At the same time, we must run DJC Boutique in a way that protects the future of the business. Taking on unsustainable costs would put pressure on the shop as a whole, including the service we provide to customers in areas we can continue to serve.

Our approach to packaging and responsibility

Although we will no longer ship to Ireland or the EU after the change takes effect, packaging still matters to us.

Small businesses have a role to play in reducing waste and using packaging thoughtfully. We will continue to consider how we pack orders, choose materials, and send parcels within the areas we serve.

For customers, packaging is often part of the experience. It protects the item, presents it neatly, and makes a delivery feel special. At the same time, it should not be wasteful or excessive.

Our aim is to keep packaging practical, attractive, and appropriate for the item being sent.

That means balancing a few needs:

Items should arrive safely and in good condition.

Orders should still feel cared for and thoughtfully packed.

Packaging choices should be sensible and not excessive.

We must follow the rules that apply in the areas we serve.

Packaging regulations are changing in many places. We will keep paying attention to the rules that apply to our business and will make changes where needed.

The updated shipping area will cover England, Scotland and Wales.
